Maur Hill-Mount Academy Opens District Play With Convincing Win Over Pleasant Ridge
By Jonny Kane

Last season the Maur Hill-Mount Academy football team brought a 4-2 record up against a struggling Pleasant Ridge team in week seven, but had a tough time against the Rams needing a touchdown with 16 seconds left to pull out a win.

Friday night the Ravens faced a near identical situation at home, but this time the Ravens had zero struggles blowing out the Rams 56-0 on senior night and the opening game of district play.

The Ravens wasted no time jumping out in front leading 14-0 after the end of the first quarter. Cameron Taft opened up the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run, while Jack Caudle added the Ravens second score on a 30-yard strike to Nathan Peltzer. Caudle found Tate Vowels on the two-point try, and MH-MA was up two scores in the blink of an eye.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy went on to score four more times in the second quarter, while also forcing three first half turnovers. Caudle threw two more touchdown passes in the second, first to Colten Kocour from 14 yards out before finishing off the half with a 28-yard strike to Ronald Faulk-Tindal. Faulk-Tindal also added a 10-yard touchdown run, while Jared Thibault scored on a 15-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Ravens also scored in each the third and fourth quarters, as Dylan Smith had a 25-yard touchdown run while Cameron Taft picked up his second touchdown on the night with a 26-yard score.

Jack Caudle finished the night 7 of 11 passing for 141 yards and three touchdowns, moving his passing touchdown total to 10 in the past three games. Cameron Taft led the Ravens on the ground with 54 yards on five carries and two touchdowns, while Ronald Faulk-Tindal added 51 yards on four carries.

MH-MA (5-2, 1-0 3A District 2) now has a chance to wrap up a playoff spot with a win next week at Maranatha (2-5, 1-0), while Pleasant Ridge (2-5, 0-1) looks to get back into the playoff picture hosting ACCHS (0-7, 0-1).
