The volleyball regular season has hit the latter part of the season and teams are working towards finishing the regular season strong to gear up for the postseason. Five area teams were in action on Saturday as Riverside hosted tournament action and Jefferson County North and Oskaloosa put forth the top performances taking first and second. 

Pool play got the tournament rolling and JCN would go 3-0 in the Blue pool beating Mclouth, North Platte and Oskaloosa each in straight sets. Oskaloosa finished second in the pool after beating North Platte in three sets and Mclouth in straight sets. Mclouth won the other pool play showdown beating North Platte in straight sets. 

In the Black pool St. Joseph Christian and Mound City took first and second after each going 2-1 in pool with St. Joseph Christian owning the head to head over Mound City. Troy and Riverside each posted a 1-2 mark in pool play. For Troy they beat the host Riverside but fell to St. Joseph Christian and Mound City, while Riverside lost to Troy and Mound City but beat St. Joseph Christian in three sets. 

The top two teams from each pool went into the Semifinals were JCN took on Mound City and Oskaloosa face St. Joseph Christian. JCN handled Mound City in straight sets but Oskaloosa had a three set battle with St. Joseph Christian which they won. 

In the Championship match it was a Northeast Kansas League battle and JCN topped Oskaloosa again in straight sets but this time quite a bit tighter than the pool play showdown. JCN with the win finished the day 5-0 and tournament champs, while Oskaloosa posted a 3-2 mark on the day taking second.
