Raven fans were treated to a record-setting performance in Kansas City Saturday afternoon as Benedictine won at Avila 72-14 sending their record to 3-0.
Less than 6 minutes into the game and before most of the folding chairs were unfurled, BC had taken a 21-0 lead. It was 28-0 when Avila got on the board with the first of their two scores on the day. A 51-14 halftime lead was stretched by 3 more second half touchdowns. If you were on the Raven sideline with a jersey, you got some PT.
The 72 points scored by Benedictine is a new all-time scoring high for the program replacing the old record of 69.
The Ravens were led by Charlie Nihart who ran for 153 yards on 19 carries. Four BC runners had at least one rushing TD and Nihart and Ejay Johnson each ran for two.
The defense was excellent as well allowing a total of 5 rushing yards on 24 Avila runs.
Benedictine is back on the road next Saturday with a 1:00 kickoff against MidAmerica Nazarene. The game will be played at the ODAC, the Olathe, KS venue where MNU hosts its home dates.
Pre-game on KAIR 93.7 set to begin at 12:30 followed by the live play-by-play.
