Sabetha & Atchison Girls Tennis Teams Compete at Wamego Invite

The girl's tennis season got underway for the lady Bluejays of Sabetha and continued for the lady Red of Atchison as both teams hit the courts on Thursday competing in the Wamego Invitational. 

Sabetha was led by a pair of second place finishes by both doubles tandems. Jessica Payne and Hannah Wertenberger posted a 3-1 day on the courts to earn second place in Doubles #2 action at the Wamego Invite. Payne and Wertenberger beat Wabaunsee and Atchison 6-0, while also winning 6-2 over Topeka High, while falling to Wamego 2-6. The duo of Kirsten Wenger and Brooklyn Bauman posted a 2-2 record in Doubles #1 action beating Atchison 6-0 and topping Wabaunsee 7-6 (7-5), while falling 3-6 to Wamego and 3-6 to Topeka High. 

In singles competition for Sabetha Addie Hunning went 2-2 with a 7-5 win over Atchison and 6-1 win over Wabaunsee, while falling to Wamego (2-6), Topeka High (0-6). Savanna Ostoff went 0-4 in Singles #1 action. 

Atchison was led by their singles competitors in Olivia Wabski and Brienna Dove who each won one match. Wabski in Singles #1 won 6-4 over Sabetha, while Dove won 6-1 over Wabaunsee. The tandem of Jordan Fitkin and Hailey Lewis competed in Doubles #1 competition going 0-4. Delores Brant competed for Atchison in Doubles #2 with her teammate coming from Wamego for the days action.
