Nemaha Central Girls & Boys Win Home Track Invite Leading Area Performers

As the final month of competition has come area teams continued their track seasons on Tuesday as Nemaha Central played host to several area teams. 

At the end of the day the Thunder picked up first place in both the girls and boys competition as a team. Lady Thunder posted 148 total points to win by over 50 points as Sabetha finished second with 97.25 points, while Marysville with 77 took third just three points ahead of Axtell who finished fourth. Jackson Heights girls finished fifth, while Washington County, Royal Valley, Riverside and Rock Creek rounded out the team finishes in sixth, seventh and a tie for eighth. The boys competition was a bit closer at the top but Nemaha Central boys still won by 30 points scoring 110.5 points, while Sabetha took second with 85.5 points and Marysville finished third with 74 total points. Washington County and Royal Valley boys finished out the Top five taking fourth and fifth, while Jackson Heights, Riverside, Axtell and Rock Creek finished out the rest of the team standings finishing sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth. 

Nine first place finishes led the way for the host Nemaha Central on the day at their home meet. In the girls competition Kaley Dalinghaus took first in both the discus (125'01) and javelin (136'11.50), while Allison Rottinghaus leapt to first in the triple jump (37'01.75) and Alleigh Kramer won the 200 meter dash (27.09). The girl’s 4x100 meter relay team also took first with a time of 52.36. In the boys competition Jacob Koelzer led the way for Nemaha Central as he sprinted to the win in the 100 meter dash (10.78) and won the long jump (21'09.25), while Zach Buessing earned first in the 300 meter hurdles and the boy’s 4x100 meter relay team (44.09) took first. 

Sabetha was led by the boys 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams who posted times of 3:41.65 and 8:45.84 to take first place. While in the field events Eric Renyer and Christian Meyer earned first place finishes in the shot put (52'01) and pole vault (13'00). 

Marysville girls and boys took third as teams and were led on the girl’s side of competition by Avery Williams who swept the hurdles winning the 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 16.74 and 49.42. Grace Stohs also earned a first place finish for the Bulldogs as she won the pole vault (11'06). 

Axtell Eagles were led by Mariah Deters who won three events taking home the gold in the 100 meter dash (12.93), high jump (5'00) and long jump (16'09.75). While in the distance events Olivia Kuckelman won the girls 1600 and 3200 meter runs behind times of 5:47.90 and 12:43.43 and Burke Deters took first in the boys 3200 meter run with a time of 10:20.18. 

Five event wins on the day led the Washington County Tigers with Jerrod Hoover leading the charge as he won the 110 meter hurdles (15.10) and high jump (6'09.50). Hunter Kier and Dawson Miller added first place finishes for the Tiger boys on the day winning the discus (148'06) and javelin (179'09). In the girls competition Jenna Hennerberg notched another top throw in the shot put taking first with a toss of 41'07. 

Jackson Heights had the girls 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay team’s post times of 4:16.74 and 10:37.21 to earn first place, while Faith Little raced to first in the 800 meter run (2:20.21). Dalton Chartier won the boys 800 meter run for the Cobras posting a time of 2:05.08. 

Tre'nez Wilkinson led the Riverside Cyclones winning the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 23.05 and 50.99, while leaping to the win in the triple jump (42'04).
