Centralia Girls Snag Third Place in 1A-DI

After a tough loss in the Semifinals the Centralia lady Panthers looked to cap the season off with a win and snag third place at the Class 1A-Division I State tournament and that they did winning 55-45 over South Central. 

Centralia took the initial lead of the contest and held the lead until mid-third quarter as the Panthers were up 9-8 after the first and went into the half up by six 28-22. Panthers struck first in the second half to take an eight point lead their largest of the game at that point but South Central answered with a 10-0 to take the lead at 32-30 with 4:17 on the clock in the third. By the end of the third via a 15-9 quarter by South Central the game was tied at 37-37. The fourth quarter belong to Centralia as the Panthers went 8-10 from the field and outscored South Central 18-8 in the final stanza to earn the 55-45 victory and take third place in Class 1A-DI. 

A plus eight rebounding edge and outscoring South Central 36-18 in the paint helped Centralia overcome 16 turnovers to get the win. Madison Lueger led Centralia with 20 points, including nine in the fourth quarter and earned Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. While, Katie Glatczak finished with 15 points and Cassidy Haufler closed her Panther career out with a 10 points and seven rebound performance. 

The win capped the season at 24-2 for Centralia and gave them a third place trophy in Class 1A-DI to add to the trophy case back home.
