Only three weeks remain in the high school basketball regular season in the State of Kansas and teams are looking to close out the regular season strong to gear up for the postseason. The KBCA has released its new set of rankings and once again 14 area teams are in the polls this week.

Class 2A houses the most area teams in the rankings this week with five; a trio on the girl's side and two on the boys side of the rankings. The lady Chargers of Jefferson County North are up one spot this week to #5 with a 12-1 record after wins over Horton and McLouth last week. While Valley Falls and Washington County girls switch spots in the 2A rankings this week coming in at #9 and #10, respectively in the latest rankings. The lady Dragons are 11-3 on the season after a 3-0 week last week beating Pleasant Ridge, McLouth and Oskaloosa all on the road, while Washington County lady Tigers sit at 12-3 on the season after beating Axtell and falling in a tough overtime contest to Hanover. In the boys rankings the Troy Trojans continue to be ranked in Class 2A but fall two spots to #7 in the polls and sit at 12-2 on the year after a win over Linn and loss to Bishop Seabury last week. The Jefferson County North boys are back in the 2A rankings this week checking in at #10 after beating Horton and McLouth last week to improve to 11-2 on the year.

Four Twin Valley League teams are yet again ranked in the Class 1A-Division I polls with a #1 ranking by the lady Panthers of Centralia leading the way again. The Panthers continue to hold the top spot in the polls and are 14-1 on the season after beating Onaga and Rock Creek last week. Lady Wildcats of Hanover come in ranked #3 again this week after improving to 12-2 on the year with a tough overtime win over Washington County and victory over Frankfort. In the boys rankings the Hanover boys once again are ranked #3 in the polls and just like the girls beat Washington County and Frankfort last week to move to 12-2 on the year. The Doniphan West boys who have been in the rankings a good portion of the year moved up one spot to #7 and are 10-6 after beating Valley Heights and Blue Valley-Randolph last week.

The Nemaha Central Thunder girls and boys, along with Marysville Bulldog boys continue to highlight the Class 3A KBCA polls for area teams as they all three remain ranked. The lady Thunder moved down one spot to #5 after a 1-1 week in which they beat ACCHS but loss a tough home game against Holton to move to 13-2 on the year. While the Nemaha Central boys are up one spot to #5 with a 12-3 record after wins over ACCHS and Holton last week. Marysville boys snagged a big overtime win over Abilene and beat Riley County last week to move to 12-2 on the year and remain ranked #2 in the 3A polls.

Class 4A-Division II a pair of Big Seven League girls teams come in at #3 and #4 this week with Holton and Jeff West sitting in those spots, respectively. Lady Wildcats of Holton are 12-3 on the season after getting a tough road win at Nemaha Central and beat Royal Valley last week and thus moved up three spots to #3 in the polls. Jeff West lady Tigers remained ranked #4 after beating Riverside last week to move to 10-3 on the year.

Teams continue to position themselves for Sub-State and look to find late season momentum to carry them towards the postseason as the high school basketball season continues to roll along.
