The strong season on the mats continued for the Royal Valley Panthers grapplers on Saturday as four Panther wrestlers took to the mats at the KC Piper Tournament and all four finished in the Top five of their weight class with three notching Top two finishes.

A perfect 5-0 day on the mats by Zack Lux led Royal Valley as he claimed the 138lbs weight class title at the Piper Tournament. Lux rattled off four straight pinfall wins in 2:35, 1:15, 51 seconds and 1:22 to get himself into the Championship bout where he earned a tight 8-4 decision win to win the 138lbs weight class. Second place finishes were earned by both Dalton Ware (106lbs) and Brett House (126lbs) for the Panthers each going 4-1 on the mats on Saturday. Ware lost his first match but finished the day with four straight wins posting three pinfall wins in 2:55, 16 seconds and 2:22, while also notching a win 13-11 by sudden victory. For House he registered his four wins by way of a technical fall (17-2) twice, 3-1 sudden victory and a 11-9 decision. DJ Kester was the lone other grappler on the mats Saturday for Royal Valley at the Piper Tournament and he posted a 2-2 record to bring home fifth place at 126lbs.

One other area team was in action at the Piper Invitational as the Maur Hill-Mount Acadmey Ravens competed and were led by a second place finish from Conner Wilson (138lbs). Wilson posted a 4-1 record with his lone loss coming to Lux of Royal Valley, but his four wins were all via pinfall in 1:43, 2:00, 1:45 and 34 seconds. Drew Raplinger picked up a fourth place finish for the Ravens at 113lbs, while Benedict Humburg finished seventh at 145lbs. Blake Mispagel (132lbs) and Mason Demerritt (126lbs) also competed for Maur Hill on the day.

Maur Hill will again be on the mats on Saturday at the Atchison Invitational, while Royal Valley is set to host a double dual coming up on Saturday.
