JCN and Jackson Heights Split Tuesday Tussle

The difference in the first half was a made three pointer by Jackson Heights at the wrong end of the court as the Cobras trailed 10-9 after one quarter and 17-15 at halftime.  However, the difference in the game was a 7-0 run to close the third period for JCN and the Chargers held Jackson Heights without any points in the final five minutes of the contest. 

Marley Wareham hit the only trey for the Cobras to give Heights a 24-23 lead before JCN scored seven straight to lead 30-24 going into the fourth frame.  Jentry Siechepine hit the only trifecta's for JCN with 4:40 to play in the game which put the Chargers ahead 37-29 before they improved to 4-3 in the NEKL and 4-4 overall.  Siechepine had nine points while Ravyn Jobbins post 10 and Annabelle Vaught added 8 as the Chargers stopped a three game losing skid. 

Kaitlyn Strube posted 15 points and 15 rebounds for Jackson Heights in the loss, however the Cobras could not overcome 22 turnovers and fell to 3-4 on the season.  The two teams also combined to make just 5 of 19 free throws for the game.

Jackson Heights had an early double digit lead before JCN slowed the game down as was within 25-20 in the final seconds of the second quarter.  That's when Cobra senior, Zane Richter, hit a guarded shot from nearly 40-feet away to give Jackson Heights momentum.  That carried into the third quarter as the Cobras jumped to a quick 10-0 run and stretched the lead to 18 points (38-20) before putting JCN away. 

Richter had 25 points and has scored at least 23 now in all seven games this season.  Westin Jacobsen added a season high 19, including 10 to ignite the third quarter run.  Mason Thomas and Wyatt Olberding each added 8 points and Jackson Heights improved to 7-0. 

Jeff County North struggled with 20 total turnovers and Bryce Noll was the only player to score more than six points (10).  The Chargers were outscored 35-16 in the second half and fell to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the Northeast Kansas League. 

The game, between the top two NEKL teams, featured a pair of seniors that last week both crossed the 1,000 point scoring mark for their high school career's in Bryce Noll and Zane Richter.
