It was a good gauge for a few area teams for Regionals as they competed against several teams they could possibly see in the Regional competition later this season, as Sabetha and Marysville competed at the Immaculata girls tennis Invite as the Raiders hosted them as three other schools.

The Sabetha Bluejays put together the top area performance just edging Marysville for second place as a team as both Sabetha and Marysville finished with 35 points but the Bluejays won the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was total games won over total games played and whomever had the best percentage won the tiebreaker. The Bluejays had a 63.7%, while Marysville had a 59.9% giving Sabetha second place as a team. KC Christian took first in the competition.

Leading the way for Sabetha on the day was the pair of second place finishes in the singles competition as Lexi Wenger and Courtney Plattner both posted 4-1 records in action. Wenger earned wins over Maranatha (8-7 (7-5)), Immaculata (8-0), Ottawa (8-0) and Marysville (8-2), while falling to KC Christian (3-8) in singles number one action. For Plattner in singles number two, she picked up wins over Maranatha (8-4), Immaculata (8-0), Ottawa (8-0) and Marysville (8-3), while also falling to KC Christian (4-8).

In doubles competition it was a pair of third place finishes for the lady Bluejays as the team of Jena Winkler and Nicole Brey, and tandem of Savanna Metzger and Laura Edelman each posted records of 3-2 to take third place. Winkler and Brey in doubles number one they earned wins over Maranatha (8-2), Immaculata (8-3) and Ottawa (8-3), while falling to KC Christian (6-8) and Marysvile (3-8). Metzger and Edelman earned wins over Marantha (8-3), Ottawa (8-3) and Immaculata (8-1) in doubles number two, while falling to Marysville (1-8) and KC Christian (6-8).

For Marysville on the day the Bulldogs took third as a team behind Sabetha. The doubles number two team of Avery Williams and Holly Holthaus led the Bulldogs placing first behind a 4-1 record on the day, tying KC Christian with a 4-1 record, but they won that head-to-head matchup. The team’s lone loss was to Maranatha. The Bulldog team of Madison Nieberding and Shelby Downard took second in doubles number one by going 4-1, while Rachel Frese placed third in the singles number one action with a 3-2 record. Megan Hill notched a fourth place finishing the singles number two competition by going 2-3.

The host Immaculata struggled on the day as they were able to only pick up three match wins between their competitors. Priscila Hernandez earned a win in singles number one action, while Elena Nine also won one match in singles number two action. The team of Eleanor Melero and Sarah Gilbert won one matchup in doubles number two action for the Raiders.
