Looking to ride the wave of momentum from a big week two win the Troy Trojans traveled to Blue Rapids to take on Valley Heights, who was in search of their first win of the season and it was Trojans pitching the shutout with their defense to earn a 27-0 road win on Friday night in week three action.

The first quarter flew by quick as Troy had an early turnover and Valley Heights looked t control the game clock with their rushing attack, but it was the Trojans late in the first quarter on their second offensive drive of the game breaking the seal on the scoring as Kortin Blevins punched it in from seven yards on the ground and with the two-point conversion made it 8-0 with 1:06 left in the first quarter.

Troy used that momentum from the scoring drive to put together a 12 play 81 yard drive for their next score with 6:02 left to play in the first half as Reid Greaser punched it in from one-yard out for the second rushing score of the night for the Trojans. After a missed PAT it was 14-0 Troy leading going into the halftime mark as they had held Valley Heights to 94 rushing yards in the first half and the Mustangs had a turnover (interception).

The second half started with Troy having the possession but a quick series and stop by Valley Heights gave the ball to the Mustangs. The third quarter would roll along without any scoring from each team and for the Mustangs they would have solid starting field position throughout the night and get into Troy territory but couldn't break inside the 30-yard line and coughed up the ball with a pair of fumbles in the second half.

With 10:35 remaining Greaser pitched the ball in the option to Cuttar Huss who scampered in for a 10-yard touchdown run for the Trojans and after a missed two-point conversion it was 20-0. Just a little over two minutes of game time later the Trojans were back in the endzone and Greaser took to the air and found Taylor Scherer in the endzone for a 15-yard score and with the PAT made it 27-0 Troy on top.

Valley Heights with a late opportunity in the fourth quarter finally broke into the redzone but had their drive stall out on a fourth and five play from the 10-yard line as the Trojan defense stood tall to preserve the shutout and the 27-0 road win.

The Trojans with the win improve to 2-1 on the season and amassed 345 total yards of offense with a balance run/pass attack (200 rushing & 145 passing). Greaser finished the night 11-15 for 145 yards and touchdown, while rushing for 49 yards on 11 carries with a score. Blevins had a touchdown run on 11 carries for 41 yards, while Huss had five carries for 62 yards and score and caught four passes for 68 yards. Troy defense pitched the shutout, forced three turnovers and held Valley Heights to just over 200 yards rushing with the Trojan defensive line earning Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA radio.

Valley Heights in the loss was led by Hunter Stevenson who ran for 112 yards on 22 carries, while Keaton DeWalt added 76 yards on 22 carries as the Mustangs fall to 0-3 on the season and were for the third straight week hurt by turnovers (three vs. Troy).

The season continues on Friday, September 25th for week four action of the football season as the Troy Trojans host Onaga and the Valley Heights Mustangs travel to Washington County.
