(KLZA)-- The 275 Conference along with the Platte Valley Conference have been in discussion on how changes to Northwest Missouri would affect the activities associated with their students.

More than a month ago, when the Grand River Conference added St. Joe Christian, North Andrew, Trenton, Pattonsburg, Putnam County and Milan, conversations began with the PVC and 275.

On Monday, March 30th, the 275 Conference voted 8-0 to invite the PVC to join the 275 in all activities.  On Wednesday, April 1 the PVC schools met, voting 7-0 to join the 275.

The PVC schools are now taking the information back to their School Boards for discussion.  The administrators have tentatively set Thursday, April 9 as the first meeting to form individual activity committees and a constitution committee.

The 17 schools potentially affected by merger are:

Craig, Dekalb, Fairfax, Jefferson, Mound City, Nodaway-Holt, Northeast Nodaway, North Nodaway, Osborn, Rock Port, South Holt, South Nodaway, Southwest Linvigston, Stewartsville, Tarkio, Union Star and West Nodaway.

Due to football cooperatives the 275 would have had just five football teams.  Southwest Livingston is only in the league for football. Recently South Holt and Nodaway-Holt have agreed to co-op football.

Basketball is the sport that will field the most teams in the New 275 Conference if approved: North Nodaway, West Nodaway, Rock Port, Tarkio Fairfax, Nodaway-Holt, South Holt, Mound City (Craig), Northeast Nodaway, Jefferson, South Nodaway, DeKalb, Stewartsville, Osborn and Union Star.
