ACCHS Tiger Wrestlers Compete at Bobcat Classic

Top flight competition took to the mats on Friday and Saturday in the two-day Bobcat Classic at Basehor-Linwood and the ACCHS Tigers from the area competed with 33 other schools in the competition.

At the end of the day the Tigers notched a 21st place finish as a team, with a pair of sixth place finishes and an eighth place finish being the top performances for the Tigers. Goddard, Platte County and St. James Academy finished first, second and third as team at the Bobcat Classic.

Bratten Forbes (220lbs) and Dillon Weaver (182lbs) both posted sixth place performances for the Tigers going 3-3 and 2-3 in action on the mats. Forbes after a first round bye, earned the 13-5 major decision win in the second round, but in the Quarterfinals took the loss via pin. Forbes responded with two-straight wins; winning via pinfall (4:24) and decision 10-4 in consolation bracket, but fell in his final two contests of the day (falling via pin 2:32 and major decision 16-2). Weaver started the day with a bye, then picked up a pinfall win in 1:22 in the second round and in the Quarterfinals Dillon picked up another win via pin (3:23). But in the Semifinals, Weaver took a loss by pin (1:48) and then fell in his next two matches to place sixth (falling via 6-0 decision and pinfall :26).

Jacob Handke (195lbs) behind a 3-3 record picked up an eighth place finish at the Bobcat Classic, registering two pinfall wins (2:15 & 3:20) and a win via decision (11-7).

ACCHS grappler, Hunter Ostertag posted a 2-2 record on the mats at 120lbs, while Nick Hager (138lbs), Karl Scholz (106lbs) and Hunter Evans (132lbs) all competed for the Tigers also at the Bobcat Classic.

Next up the Tigers will host Atchison for a dual matchup on Wednesday, as the two teams will square off on the mats.
