The final gun sounded on Saturday for the cross country season and in Class 4A only a few area runners were racing one final time on the year in the State competition in Wamego at the Wamego Country Club. 

Pacing the way on the day was Atchison junior, Sarah Jaloma who raced her way to a third place performance with a time of 15:28.20, improving her State finish from the previous year by two spots. Jaloma's third place showing was the top Atchison girls finish as they competed as a team at State placing seventh on 12 teams. Emily Jaloma and Lyndi Hansen both finished in the Top 50 at State as Emily placed 34th and Hansen notched a 49th place finish. Finishing out the team score for Atchison was Hailey Macierowski and Teagan Hansen placed 54th and 80th.

The lone other area competitor was Lexia Jamison of Perry Lecompton racing in the girl's 4A competition and finished 40th at the State competition to finish off the season.
