Pleasant Ridge & Atchison Have Top Flight Performances at Basehor-Linwood Cross Country Invite

The cross country season started off with a bang for the Atchison Redmen and Pleasant Ridge Rams with top flight performances at the Basehor-Linwood cross country invitational on Thursday.

Pleasant Ridge boys opened the season by winning the competition as a team, taking first behind four top seven finishers on the day. The Rams posted 33 points to top the host Basehor-Linwood by three points to win the team title, as senior, Tyler Darrow paced Pleasant Ridge finishing first with a time of 18:54.1. The Rams also took home fifth, sixth and seventh place with Noah Tattershall, Luke Oatney and Clayton Price posting times of 19:45.9, 19:48.8 and 19:53.6, respectively.  Sophomore, Reid Harken also finished in the top 20, placing 20th for Pleasant Ridge. Derek Zule and Matt Smith also competed for the Rams and finished 31st and 32nd.

On the girls side the Rams were led by a third place showing by Kristina Silvers who raced her way to a time of 17:43.9 for the bronze medal, while her teammate Bridget Howard a sophomore, placed 13th finishing with a time of 18:41.5. Grace Wagner, Taylor Satre and Sarah Lanter all finished 24th, 26th and 27th, respectively for the Rams.

For Atchison, junior, Sarah Jaloma continued her great cross country performances in her Redmen career by opening the year with a win at the Basehor-Linwood invitational notching first place with a time of 16:50.5, winning by nearly 18 seconds. Three of Sarah's teammates joined her with top flight performances finishing in the top 20 as Emily Jaloma placed fifth, Lyndi Hanson finished seventh and Hailey MacLerowski tallied a 16th place finish, posting times of 18:16.8, and 18:22.3 and 19:18.3, respectively.

Atchison boys had a pair of runs compete on the day as freshman, Alex Howard and Dallas Woolston finished 23rd and 35th, respectively.
