Troy Trojan, Tristan Speer Provides Trojans with Another Dimension
Tristan Speer

He’s only played in three games this season not being eligible in the first part of the season but Troy Trojan junior, Tristan Speer has been a difference maker since taking over the starting quarterback spot three games ago.

Speer recently helped the Trojans orchestrate a dominating 43-8 win over the Raiders of Immaculata this past Friday. Tristan continued to display an improvement in the passing game with his best passing game of his three starts, going 12-18 for 167 yards and three touchdown passes. The feet of Speer make him a dual threat quarterback and while he only registered 19 yards he did added a rushing touchdown to his night in the win over Immaculata. The junior’s presence wasn’t just felt on the offensive end but the defensive end too as he snatched an interception against the Raiders.

In just three games the junior quarterback has made a big impact for the Troy Trojans as the team is 2-1 in those three games, with their lone loss to the top Class 2-1A team in the state in Centralia-Wetmore.

Tristan on the season is 30-59 passing for 338 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions in three games, while rushing the ball for 33 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball Speer has made his presence felt for the Trojans also with 13 tackles and an interception in three games.

The Trojans are 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in district play behind Jackson Heights by the points, but beat the Cobras during the season. If Troy is to earn a playoff a spot in their district, Tristan will need to be a key part of helping the Trojans beat Doniphan West in the regular season finale.
