The junior tandem of Luis Rodriguez and Justin Sharp have been spear heading the Oskaloosa Bears offensive attack all season and did it in a big way in their 60-28 win over Immaculata last Friday.
Bears ran wild over the Raiders of Immaculata posting 468 yards on the ground with Rodriguez and Sharp accounting for 303 yards on 25 carries, while registering five of the eight touchdowns, also for the Bears.
Sharp lead the way with his first 100+ yard game of the season dashing to 199 yards on 15 carries for a staggering 13.3 yards per carry, while Rodriguez pounded his way to 104 yards on 10 carries, touting a 10.4 yards per carry mark in the contest. Justin more than double is touchdown total scoring three times on the ground and Rodriguez added two more to his total on the year.
The Bears are off to their best mark in three years as Oskaloosa only won two games the last two year combined and are 3-3 this season, thus far thanks in big part to the tandem of Rodriguez and Sharp who had a big game against Immaculata but have been doing it all season accounting for 69.5% of the team’s offensive output on the season through six games.
Rodriguez has led the way rushing for 580 yards on 85 carries (6.8 ypc) and nine touchdowns, while catching seven passes for 76 yards. While Sharp has posted 545 yards on 81 carries (6.7 ypc) and five touchdowns, while catching eight passes for 128 yards to lead the team in receiving.
The Bears have started district play 2-0 in big part to the junior tandem of Rodriguez and Sharp and now have their final two district games looming the next two weeks against McLouth on the road and Jefferson County North at home, before wrapping up the season against Valley Heights on the road.
