McLouth Softball

The McLouth softball team made history this past week as they brough home the school’s first ever state championship in any sport.
The #1 ranked Bulldogs capped a perfect season by winning the state title 3-0 over St. Marys in Pratt to finish 26-0. They also picked up a 9-2 win over Hillsboro in the first round and a 10-0 win over Ell-Saline in the semifinals.
Corissa Bandel tossed a 1-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts in the championship game. She pitched five innings and had 12 strikeouts against Hillsboro. Offensively, Corissa had three hits and three runs against Ell-Saline and had the biggest hit in the title game which was a two-RBI single.
Dani Lee may have had the best tournament overall as she pitched five innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts in the semifinals over Ell-Saline. Offensively, Dani had a home run, two doubles and four RBI’s against the Cardinals and three hits, including a home run and four RBI’s against Hillsboro.
Charley Coffin had three hits against Hillsboro and added a key two-RBI double in the win over Ell-Saline. Elizabeth Holloway provided three hits including two doubles in the two games on Friday and Jillian Holwick had two hits and two runs against Hillsboro.
It’s one of the most dominant softball seasons in state history as the Bulldogs outscored their opponents 321-11.
