Emmarae Thompson

Emmarae Thompson of Jackson Heights continued her impressive track and field season this past week at Silver Lake.

The freshman broke a 25-year-old school record with a time of 15.5 seconds in the 100-meter-high hurdles. That time is the best mark in Class 2A and the eighth best time among all classifications.

She swept the hurdle events at the Jackson Heights Invitational two weeks ago and is part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams that has also picked up first-place finishes.

Cobras head coach Denise Visocsky says that Emmarae is one of the hardest workers on the team and that she will now set her sights on the state meet and improving on her record.
