Samantha Klotz

It’s not often we get the chance to highlight a dual-sport athlete but this week we highlight Samantha Klotz of Royal Valley.

The Panthers softball team holds the top spot in the Big 7 with a 5-1 league record while winning five of their last six games.

Last week they swept Hiawatha with wins of 18-8 and 20-5 and Samantha was one of seven Panther players to hit a home run in the two-game sweep.

So far this season on the diamond, Samantha has collected eight hits including a double and a home run with nine RBI and 12 runs scored.

Samantha is also breaking school records for the track and field team. During their home invitational last week, Samantha broke the Royal Valley school record for the long jump with a mark of 18’1’’.

Samantha also holds the school record for both the 100 and 200 meters and is the anchor for the Panthers 4x100 meter relay team which is ranked top eight in 3A this season.
