Hiawatha Girls Powerlifting Squad

Highlighting the Hiawatha girls powerlifting team this week after their fifth-place finish at the 3A State Meet this past weekend at Santa Fe Trail.

What’s impressive about the fifth-place finish was that the Redhawks only had three girls participating.

Sutton Diller, Grace Morey and Leah Kesler have all had great seasons including the finish at state.

Sutton placed second overall in the 140-weight class finishing third in bench and fourth in both squat and clean. Grace placed third overall in the 165-weight class finishing third in bench, fourth in squat and fifth in clean.

Leah placed third overall in the power weight class and was the state champion in the clean with a lift of 170 pounds. She also finished third in squat and sixth in bench.

Sutton finished first overall at Horton in late February and second at Royal Valley in late January. Leah finished second at Horton and third out of 25 competitors at Royal Valley which included participants from 4A, 5A and 6A.
