Jace Richards

The Atchison boys basketball team picked up a tournament win at the Thunder Classic hosted by Nemaha Central over the weekend.

The Phoenix were led by 6’5 sophomore Jace Richards who posted strong numbers in the three wins. Jace posted a monster double-double against Jackson Heights in pool play with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

His defense was key in the second pool play win over St. Marys Academy as he had five blocks in that game. He finished strong in the Championship win on Saturday over Marysville as he finished with 10 points.

Jace entered the tournament averaging five points, eight rebounds and two blocks per game. Atchison is currently the #5 ranked team in 4A with a 10-1 record. The lone loss for the Phoenix so far this season was against current 5A #1 Highland Park.
