Auburn Bulldog, Tierra Williams Goes Out on Top as Four Event State Champ
Tierra Williams

Competing at top level and having success has been something of a regular basis for Auburn Bulldog senior, Tierra Williams, so it’s only fitting that she go out in her track career as a Bulldog as a state champ in four events.

The Nebraska Cornhusker track signee took to the track in the Nebraska State Track competition this past weekend and helped lead her school to the Class B girls State title, tallying 40 of Auburn’s 56 total points after grabbing four gold medals, to give her seven state titles in her high school career.

Williams took to the track sprinting to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, making it back-to-back years as state champion in the 100 meters and improving upon second place in the 200 meters in 2012. Tierra as a sophomore took home a fifth at state in the 100 and seventh as a freshman, while placing sixth in the 200 meters as a freshman.

The senior didn’t stop with the two titles on the track as she turned to the field winning both the long jump and triple jump, registering marks of 20-01.25 and 39-01.5, respectively. Both marks would have been new Class B state records but both were ruled wind-aided. With her title in the triple jump she made it back-to-back titles at state in that competition, while placing second last year in the long jump after a 2011 state title in the long jump.

Great and dominate performances were showcased by Tierra all year and throughout her career as a Bulldog as she blossomed every year, to ultimately cap off her career in impressive fashion. Williams looks to take her momentum and success from high school and achieve success in Division I track and field as a Cornhusker.
