Holton Wildcat, Connor Strader Breaks Two Records at Big Seven Track Meet
Connor Strader

Holton Wildcats have had top performances all season on the track and senior, Connor Strader has been at the forefront helping lead the way with great performances of her own. Perhaps Strader’s best performance this season came last week in the Big Seven League track meet.

Connor goes out as Big Seven League champion in the 400 and 800 meter runs, all while etching her name into the League record books, to breaking records in both competitions. In the 400 meters Strader posted a time of 1:00.21 breaking the previous record of 1:00.26. She broke the 800 meter record by posting a time of 2:18.52, besting her own record of 2:22.94 set back in 2011.

All season the events of choice for the senior Wildcat have been the 400 and 800 meter runs and she has registered wins in both events multiple times this season. In the 400 meter, Strader ran to victories in the ACCHS, Hiawatha, Jeff West and Atchison Invites and also in the Holton Big Seven Quad, too. While, she made it multi-gold days at the Holton Big Seven Quad and ACCHS and Atchison Invites by winning the 800 meters at those events.

The attention for Strader and her fellow Wildcat teammates now turns to Regionals this coming Friday as they try and earn spots at the state competition. For Connor she looks to earn a repeat trip to state where she competed in the 400 and 800 meter runs last year, placing sixth and fifth respectively in both events. Connor ends her year with a pair of League records but has her sights set on more with Regionals and State still to come.
