Crouch Leads Holton Golf to Big 7 League Title
Parker Crouch

After the spring sports season was cancelled last year due to COVID, area athletes entered this year without many high expectations due to the fact that many didn’t know what each respective school would have.

For Holton sophomore Parker Crouch whatever his expectations were he has exceeded them and some, after last week he claimed a Big 7 League Championship.

Crouch shot 75 to claim the league title on the Cats’ home course, shooting an even par 35 on his back nine and helping Holton win the team title as well.

It was far and away the best round Crouch has had this season as his previous best on record was a 91 he shot at Nemaha Central back on April 22.

What is more impressive is that he hadn’t shot in the 80’s once this season until the league meet which he won by four strokes.

He proved that it was not a fluke on Monday as he qualified for the 4A State Tournament with a sixth-place finish at the regional meet at Wamego shooting an 84. Holton as a team also qualified for state placing third with more great rounds by Canon Karn, Reese Holaday and Ryan Taylor.

Crouch now heads into the state meet next week with his Wildcat team, looking to continue his recent hot streak with state set for next Monday and Tuesday at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.
