Royal Valley Panther, Jaycee Worrell Continues Rip the Leather off the Ball
Jaycee Worrell

Royal Valley Panthers softball squad started the season off with a pair of losses to Wamego but since then it’s only been wins for the young Panther squad who is a perfect 10-0 in the Big Seven League this season.

Last week the Panthers took down Holton and Nemaha Central in a pair of double-headers behind great offensive production and solid pitching. Panther’s offense tallied double digit runs in all four games last week and in the last eight games straight.

Led by a young team that features only two seniors it’s been multiple players highlighting the Panthers season but sophomore, Jaycee Worrell stands out in the pack. Worrell is batting a blistering .531 on the season (26-49) which leads the Panthers, while she also leads the team in runs scored (18) and triples with a two. Jaycee started the season off hot in the losses to Wamego and as continued to hit well with a hit in all 12-games this year, while also registering a run scored or RBI in every game, too.

Jaycee’s bat continued to produce last week in an impressive way as the Panthers topped Holton and Nemaha Central. In 10-7 and 12-5 wins over Holton, she posted a 4-7 day with three runs scored, three RBI, a triple, walk and a stolen base. While, the next day the Panthers routed Nemaha Central 13-0 and 13-2; games in which Worrell went 7-9 with four runs scored, six RBI, two doubles and a stolen base.

In the 4-0 week, the Panthers posted 48 runs, outscoring their opponents 48-14, while posting a team batting average of .403 with Worrell ripping the leather off the ball behind an average of .688 in the four games (11-16).

Panthers look to continue their success as the postseason is on the horizon next week with Regionals bust first have their attention set on capturing the Big Seven League title outright when they take on Hiawatha in a double header on Thursday. Worrell looks to continue her success with her stellar play and put that together along with her teammate’s great play for Royal Valley’s success to continue this year.
