Baker's Big Week Pushes Nemaha Central Baseball to 11-game Win Streak
Landen Baker

Since a season-opening loss to Wamego, the Nemaha Central baseball team has rattled off 11 consecutive victories including a 4-0-week last week with four wins over Perry Lecompton and Holton.

A big key to the success of the Thunder came from senior Landen Baker who went off in the four games putting together one of the best four-game stretches we have seen.

At the plate Baker finished 9-for-15 in the four games with 10 RBI, 5 runs scored, two doubles and one home run.

He was equally as impressive on the mound picking up a pair of wins throwing eight innings allowing just five total hits and one earned run while striking out nine.

On the season Baker is near the tops of the state with a .481 batting average with 19 RBI while holding an ERA of 2.10 on the mound.

Within the last two weeks he has also announced that he will be attending Highland Community College next year to attempt to further his chances of getting a 4-year offer.

Baker still has a few weeks to continue to bolster his already staggering numbers and potentially lead the Thunder to a league title and a state tournament berth at the end of the season.
