ACCHS' Tannah Forbes Back at State After Sub-State Championship
Tannah Forbes

Just this past season the Kansas State High School Activities Association held the first ever girl’s state wrestling championships which wound up featuring six local girls.

One of those girls was ACCHS senior Tannah Forbes who on Friday made sure she would be back at state this season as she won a sub-state championship at 191 pounds to punch her ticket to this weekend’s state meet.

Forbes was dominant on her way to a perfect 3-0 record with all three wins via pin as she opened the tournament with a 57-second pin before a win in the semifinals via pin in 2:19.

She then entered the championship match against a wrestler from Tonganoxie who had a 14-3 record entering the tournament, but Forbes made quick work picking up a pin in just 1:16.

She now enters state after taking fifth at 191 pounds a year ago where she went 2-1 in the tournament which also comes after a second-place finish at 170 pounds at girls state wrestling her sophomore season which was the final season not sanctioned by KSHSAA.

Forbes will look to have a better showing this season as she enters state ranked second in the 191-pound weight class with a 6-3 record and the state meet set for Friday in Salina beginning at 12-noon.
