Doniphan West's Clark Captures 285-Pound District Title

Postseason wrestling got underway over the weekend with several area athletes punching their tickets to regionals this week including Doniphan West’s Cooper Clark who moved on in the 321A classification.

Clark captured the district championship on Saturday at 285 pounds with a 3-0 record and three pins with each win coming in under two minutes.

He opened his day with a pin over a wrestler from Horton in just 36 seconds and then followed that up with a pin in two minutes over a wrestler from Nemaha Central.

In the championship match Clark went up against a wrestler from Marysville and with just 1:50 gone by racked up his third pin and the district title.

The three wins improved his record to 10-8 on the season as he entered the tournament with a losing record, albeit in one of the toughest weight classes.

Clark, a junior, will now turn his attention to the regional meet coming up Friday which is scheduled to be hosted by Rossville beginning at 3 p.m.
