The 2020 high school spring sports season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak and because of that we at the MSC Sports Radio Network have decided to salute area athletes that were expected to be the top returners in their respective sports.
For the Holton Lady Cat softball team there were high expectations heading into the 2020 season after making a run to the state tournament a year ago and finishing with a 20-3 overall record.
The Cats were bringing back nearly every player from last season’s roster including senior Bailey Flewelling, who was expected to one of the top players not only in Northeast Kansas but the entire state.
Flewelling led the Lady Cats in nearly every offensive category last season leading the team in runs scored (34), RBI (33), doubles (9), triples (4) and home runs (8).
She was also third in batting average (.466), second in hits (34) and second in stolen bases (6).
Her performance earned her a second team all-state selection last year along with an honorable mention Big 7 all-league selection as well.
Unfortunately for Flewelling her senior season was cut short, so she will now turn her attention to the next level where she has signed to play softball at Emporia State University next year.
