Just a couple of months ago the Royal Valley girls’ basketball team went into the Hutchinson Sports Arena and captured the school’s first ever state championship on the girl’s side.

Saturday afternoon the Lady Panthers added another piece of hardware in Hutch, as the volleyball team dominated on their way to a Class 3A State Championship.

For a team that is full of players that will be back next season it was the play and leadership of senior Kenzie Ogden that stood out.

The Panthers went 3-0 in pool play with wins over Silver Lake, Nemaha Central and Frontenac and Ogden was great recording 23 digs while being all over the court.

She was just as good in the semifinals and the championship with her best performance coming in the semifinal win over Cheney as she posted 14 digs.

On the season Ogden has posted 354 digs which is the most on the team by over 100 while posting a 96 percent serve percentage, 58 assists, 429 returns and 17 aces.

As one of just two seniors on the Royal Valley roster, Ogden paved the way for the Lady Panthers 36-4 magical season and will forever be known as one thing: a state champion.
