A lot of times in sports it is said that you find out the most about a team or a player when they have to go through adversity as you can either fold, or push through and make the best of a situation.
For Centralia’s Maddy Lueger she has shown that she is a player that has the ability to push through tough situations and proved that this past week.
The Panthers had lost three of four games going into last week, but Lueger got the Panthers back on track Tuesday in a 69-50 win over Blue Valley pouring in a career-high 38 points.
She followed that up with another dominating performance Thursday, as Lueger delivered a 24-point effort in Centralia’s 51-22 win over Axtell.
After the big week she has improved her average to just under 20 points per night, shooting just under 60 percent from the floor and the same percentage from the free throw line.
Lueger’s big week has the Panthers up to 13-6 on the year and the No. 1 seed in this week’s Onaga regional, and Centralia will look to advance to sub-state play next week with a win over Valley Falls on Thursday night.
