Makinley Smith

The 2018-19 high school basketball season has been an up and down one for the Doniphan West girls who are off to a 6-7 start to the year.  

The Mustangs are 4-3 in the Twin Valley League so far this season, picking up their fourth win Friday in a 67-46 win over Blue Valley behind a big game from junior Makinley Smith.

Smith poured in a season-high 30 points in the win, connecting on 8-of-10 free throws and recording 11 field goals in the game.

On the season she is now averaging over 18 points per game while pulling down nearly eight rebounds to go along with getting to the line nearly 10 times per game.

Last season she was named to the Twin Valley League Second Team and is well on her way to becoming a first team selection this season.

Smith and the Mustangs will look to continue their success down the final stretch of the season which begins Tuesday traveling to Axtell before Wednesday hosting KC Christian.
