Each and every year, the Twin Valley League tournament proves to be one of the best midseason tournaments around the state of Kansas and this year was no different.
The girl’s side was a gauntlet this year featuring three teams that are ranked in the top 10 in Class 1A with the Frankfort coming out on top with two thrilling wins on the final two days.
The Lady Cats opened up the tournament as the No. 2 overall seed and the No. 7 ranking in the state picking up a 66-25 quarterfinal victory over Doniphan West.
Frankfort followed that up with a thrilling 52-51 semifinal victory over No. 4 Centralia, as senior Emilee Ebert delivered the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
The Lady Cats didn’t stop there, as they pulled off another upset in the championship game taking down No. 5-ranked Hanover 45-44 despite trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter.
The TVL Tournament Championship has Frankfort up to 11-1 on the year and now ranked fourth in 1A with the only loss being a 45-39 loss to Hanover back on December 20.
The Lady Cats will look to continue their strong start to the year and try to capture a TVL regular season championship with seven games remaining in the regular season.
