For many young athletes, making the transition from middle school athletics to the high school level can often be a tough thing to battle.
For Atchison High freshman Christian Bown-Webb the transition has seemed rather easy, as he has burst onto the scene and quickly emerged as one of the top players around the state of Kansas.
He put his talents on display last week in the Redmen’s two games, as he started off the week with a 26-point outing on 10-of-10 shooting from the free throw line in a tough loss to a very good Sumner team.
He followed that up with another solid outing Friday night, as again he led the Redmen in scoring with 18 points in Atchison’s 70-45 beat down of Rossville.
On the season Bowen-Webb is averaging a little over 20 points per game, shooting around 80 percent from the free throw line and picking up over two steals per game.
He is also currently ranked second in the state of Kansas in the Class of 2020 according to future150.com and is rated as a 3-star athlete after dropping 53 points in a middle school game as an eighth grader.
Bowen-Webb and the Redmen are off to a 2-3 start to the year and will look to gain momentum into the holiday break as Atchison travels to Savannah Tuesday night before wrapping up 2018 with a home game Thursday against Harmon.
