Lane Lassiter

First place finishes at multiple competitions, a pair of second place finishes, 33-3 overall record and a Regional championship that’s what Holton Wildcat senior, Lane Lassiter has accomplished this season thus far with still more to come with the state tournament on the horizon.

Lassiter has been tossing his opponents to the wayside all season notching wins at the Burlington Invitational, St. Mary’s Invite, Sadowski Tournament (Holton’s home tournament) and Big Seven League Tourney. At Burlington and St. Mary’s it was a 4-0 record for the Lane on the day, while he went 3-0 at the Sadowski tourney and 2-0 at the Big Seven League tournament.

Pair of second place finishes also have been captured by Lane on the season in the Clay Center and Baldwin Invite.  

In the Regionals action in Class 4A at Abilene it was Lassiter going 2-0 on the day after a first round bye. In the semifinals he dispatched his opponent with a major decision win, 19-5, moving to the finals with the win. In the championship bout Lane captured the 145lb Regional championship with a pinfall win with a time of 2:30 in the bout.

The Holton senior, now has his sights on the bigger prize a state championship as he heads to Salina this Friday for State to continue his great season looking to cap it off with a great performance on the mats.
