Rokey's 13 Tackles Has Sabetha Football Back in 3A State Title Game
Cauy Rokey

After missing nearly an entire season due to an injury, you often never know how a player is going to respond the following season.

For Sabetha senior linebacker Cauy Rokey his response has been nothing short of spectacular, as he is currently playing outstanding football and has helped the Bluejay football team get back to the 3A State Championship game for the second consecutive season.

Last week Rokey shined once again as he compiled 13 tackles and several big hits in the Bluejays 21-0 shutout of Galena in the sub-state round of the 3A playoffs.

Rokey and Sabetha held down a Galena offense that was averaging over 40 points and 400 yards per game this season holding the Bulldogs under 200 total yards of offense.

He now leads the Bluejay defense with 106 tackles on the season to go along with several tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Rokey seems to have a knack for the big play as well, as the last two seasons he has stopped Marysville’s 2-point conversion in the state championship and also knocked the potential game-tying 2-point conversion pass against Perry earlier this season.

According to Sabetha defensive coordinator Nathan Bauman, “Cauy is the thunder and loves to bring the big hit, whether it is on a ball carrier or a lead blocker.”

Cauy will look to lead the Bluejays to a second straight 3A State Championship this Saturday, as Sabetha will take on 2016 4A-II champ Pratt with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m in Hutchinson and live coverage on KNZA 103.9 FM and online.
