Buessing's Huge Night Through the Air Has Axtell Football One Win Away from 8-man DII State Title Game
Quinn Buessing

The Axtell Eagles’ football team is in the midst of one of the best seasons in school history sitting at 10-1 and into the sub-state round of the 8-man DII playoffs with the only loss coming to No. 1 Hanover 50-42.

The Eagles are averaging 60 points per game and feature one of the most prolific offenses in the state led by junior quarterback Quinn Buessing who is coming off a huge performance in Axtell’s 54-8 over Waverly last week.

Buessing threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns in the win completing 13-of-16 passes while also rushing for 47 yards and a score.

On the season Buessing is now at 2,380 yards and 50 touchdowns through the air to just two interceptions, while on the ground he has ran for 630 yards and 12 more scores.

He is averaging over 215 yards per game through the air while completing 71 percent of his passes holding a quarterback rating of 142.

Friday night marked the fifth time this season Buessing has thrown for over 270 yards, as his high on the year came against Frankfort on Oct. 12 when he threw for 320 yards and five touchdowns.

He has thrown for four or more touchdowns in eight of 11 games so far this season and has had three six touchdown nights through the air.

Buessing will look to continue his strong season Friday night as the Eagles get their rematch with Hanover, and again Axtell is set to host the matchup with kickoff set for 7 p.m. with live coverage on 92.1 KMZA.
