The Atchison Lady Red have found a groove as of recent on the court winning their last five coming into this week. Senior, Madison Sanders has been a big part of the wins for Atchison this season and a huge part of the five-game winning streak as she tallied 20-plus points in four of the five games.

Sanders perhaps last week put her best back to back games together on the season in wins over KC Sumner and KC Washington. It started with a 63-34 win over KC Washington were Madison posted 21 points on 11-24 shooting and 7-9 from the free throw line, while posting her fourth double-double of the season as she grabbed 13 steals on the night. For good measure three rebounds and three assists were on the final stat line in that game. Next up was a 47-37 win over KC Sumner and Sanders went off for a season-high 29 points and registered her fifth double-double of the season with 11 steals, adding two rebounds and one block on the evening.

All season Madison has had a knack for scoring the ball for the Lady Red to help them along throughout the season with a 19.1 ppg average, while shooting 45% from the floor and 70% from the charity stripe (23-33 FT’s). Maybe the biggest impact stat for Madison on the year is her steals as she has 100 on the season for a 6.7 steals per game average on the season, which has translated to all five of her double-double’s this season.

The Lady Red with their five-game winning streak are 10-6 on the season and looking to continue their success on the season to close out the regular season and head into postseason play. Atchison’s success down the stretch of the year could hinge on Madison’s play and that could bode well for the Lady Red if she continues to pour out the points like she has this season.
