For the Troy Trojans the 2018 high school football season has been one of coming up just short with three losses by two touchdowns or less and two of their three losses on their 6-3 record by one point.
The Trojans have shown that they are fully capable of competing against the top teams in the state, but just haven’t quite figured out how to finish off close games.
Friday night the Trojans made sure things weren’t close down the stretch, as Troy opened up the 2018 playoffs with a dominant 54-21 win over Wabaunsee with junior quarterback Kipp Jasper leading the way.
Jasper put together one of the top performances we have seen all season long, as he combined for six total touchdowns in the win. Throwing the football Kipp was 8-of-10 for 204 yards and four touchdowns, while on the ground he ran for 112 yards and two more scores.
On the season Jasper leads Troy in both rushing and passing as the junior has ran for 542 yards and seven touchdowns, while through the air he has thrown for 1394 yards and 19 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
He is in second season as the starter for the Trojans and will look to continue his strong junior season Friday, as Troy has a rematch in the regional round of the 1A playoffs at Centralia whom the Trojans fell to in week five 36-22.
