Sabetha's Lukert Claims 3A Regional Title to Earn Trip Back to State
Hattie Lukert

In high school cross country making it to the state meet is a feat in and of itself, but capturing a regional title to make it to the state meet is something even more special.

For Sabetha sophomore Hattie Lukert she achieved the special feat on Saturday, claiming the 3A Sabetha regional individual title taking the top spot by over 13 seconds.

Lukert punched her ticket to the state meet for the second straight season, after taking 16th place at the state meet at Wamego in 2017.

She has finished inside of the top five in every meet she has ran in so far this season, with her best finish coming in the regional race last Saturday.

Lukert also has two second place finishes on the season, coming at the Tonganoxie Invitational and at the Horton Invitational.

She will look to best her 16th place finish at the state meet which is scheduled to be held Saturday, as the 3A girls race is set to get underway at 10:35 a.m. at Rim Rock Farms in Lawrence.
