Coming off a 3A state title last season the Sabetha Bluejays’ football team has picked up right where they left off sitting at No. 1 in the state with a perfect 6-0 record.
A big key to the success of the Bluejays has been the play of senior Cauy Rokey, who has shown the last two seasons why he is one of the top linebackers and lineman around the state on both sides of the ball.
Rokey led Sabetha's defense to a shutout of Holton Friday night with 16 tackles, including nine solo stops and four tackles for a loss in the 31-0 victory. It was the Bluejays' second consecutive shutout of Holton, after blanking the Wildcats 21-0 last season.
Rokey has been named all-league and honorable mention all Class 3A each of the last two seasons and appears well on his way to those honors or more this season, having already collected 60 tackles through the first six games.
Rokey has also helped lead an offensive line that is averaging over 300 yards rushing per game as Sabetha has climbed to a 6-0 record.
Rokey and the Bluejays will look to continue their success this week, hosting Wamego who is currently 4-2 on the season.
