In high school, the one common theme throughout almost all sports is the fact that the sports are mainly a team game meaning not just one person has to be relied on each and every night out.
In cross country though that is not the case, as nobody can determine your success except for yourself.
For Atchison’s Adalynn Collins she has the heart and determination to succeed and it has shown this season, as had emerged as one of the top cross country runners in the state.
This past week Collins showed exactly why she is one of the best, as she claimed the top spot at the loaded Sabetha Invitational with a time of 20:08.35 finishing just one second ahead of a runner from Baldwin.
The win marked the second for Collins this season, as she also claimed the Tonganoxie Invite with a time of 20:57.34 which was nearly 20 seconds ahead of the next closest finisher.
She also has a second place finish at the Hiawatha Invite and a fourth place finish at Perry to her credit this season.
Last season Collins made it to the state meet and took 30th, and this season looks to make it back to state as the season continues Thurday with the Kansas City-Atchison League meet.
