Ever since her freshman year Centralia Panther, Breanna Schmitz has been putting her name at the top of the standings and in the books as a top performer in the pole vault and her junior year has been no different.
Schmitz in her most recent action broke her own pole vault school record she set earlier in the season as she posted a vault of 11’02 to take first at the Sabetha Invite. The Centralia Panther broke her own school record by an inch as she had previously broke the school record earlier this track and field season at the Washington County Invite posting a vault of 11’01 at the competition.
Over the year Schmitz has been racking up first or second place finishes in pole vault at meets as she won the pole vault at the Nemaha Central Invite (9’06) and Frankfort Invite (10’00). It was second place finishes at the Valley Heights Invite’s this year (10’00 and 10’06) in competition.
At State Schmitz has been at the top of the pole vault scene in Class 1A as she won the State title in her freshman year with a vault of 10’00 and took second as a sophomore behind a vault of 10’06. Last year her second place performance in the pole vault helped the Centralia girls track and field team win the Class 1A team State title.
Schmitz currently ranks number one in the State in Class 1A in pole vault and in the Top 10 in all classes and looks to finish the regular season strong going into Regionals and earn a return trip to State.
