Marysville Bulldogs put forth a great wrestling season last year and this year has been no different as the Bulldogs captured the Class 4A Regional title as a team at Abilene and qualified 10 wrestlers for the State tournament.

One grappler that has helped lead the charge all season for Marysville is sophomore, Storm Slupianek who claimed the Class 4A Regional title at 160lbs at Abilene to qualify for State by going 4-0. Slupianek won his first three bouts by pinfall 1:47, 3:14 and 3:40 and then captured the Regional title with a 6-0 decision victory in the Championship bout.

Slupianek on the season has registered a 33-2 record on the mats. The Marysville sophomore notched first place individual finishes at the Mission Valley Invite, Clay Center Invite, Cardinal Classic (at Hoisington) and Phillipsburg Tournament with Marysville as a team winning three of the tournaments and taking second at the other. He also took second at the Jayhusker Invite and Beloit Invite as Marysville as a team took second at those events. Slupianek also helped Marysville end a run of four-straight years of finishing runner-up in the North Central Kansas League as the Bulldogs won the NCKL title.

After a third place finish as a team at State last year in Class 3-2-1A Slupianek and Marysville wrestlers have their sights set on top flight finishes in Class 4A this year at State.
