The Riverside Cyclones wrestling team has been whirling past the competition this season finding a great amount of success.
Riverside’s most recent success came at the Shawnee Mission North Invite as the Cyclones posted a sixth place finish as a team out of 16 schools and a pair of individual first place finishes paced Riverside. One of those first place finishes belonged to senior, Scott Resler who went 4-0 on the day to win the 145lbs weight class. Resler opened the day with back-to-back pinfall wins in 45 and 49 seconds and then in the Semifinals recorded a 9-1 major decision win. In the Championship bout it was a 12-2 major decision that won the 145lbs title for Resler.
Resler sits at 28-0 on the season and is currently ranked #2 at 145lbs in Class 3-2-1A KWCA rankings has he’s been highly ranked all season. The Riverside senior who has qualified for State the last three years and finished fifth last year at 145lbs as 148 career wins and 20 of his 28 wins this season have come via pinfall. On top of winning the Shawnee Mission North Invite, Resler also won the Onaga, Pleasant Ridge and Rossville Invite’s.
Resler looks to finish the season strong as he vies for his fourth straight Albany Invite title and Big Seven crown on top of performing well at Regionals and getting back to the State tournament.
