John Tarwater

It’s been a strong track and field season thus far for Oskaloosa Bear senior, John Tarwater who continues to post top marks in multiple events and rack up top performances.

At the Oskaloosa Invitational last week Tarwater helped lead the Bears boys track team to the team title on the day as he led the way with three first place finishes. The Bear senior raced to first place in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles behind times of 16.76 and 43.11, posting his best time of the year in the 110 meters. In the field events Tarwater continued to leap to new heights in the high jump recording his best jump of the year, 6’02 winning the event at Bears home Invitational.

In five meets this track season John has finished fourth place or better in all three events earning second or better 13 of the 15 times competing in the three events combined. At the Riverside Relays, Jeff West Invite and Oskaloosa Invite he brought home triple gold. While his best marks in the 110 meter hurdles and high jump came at the Oskaloosa Invitational his best time in the 300 meter hurdles was 41.66 which he posted at the ACCHS Invitational.

Tarwater looks to continue to build on his performances and finish the track season strong looking to compete at Regionals for a top finish to earn a spot at the State competition in Wichita at the end of May.
