Centralia Panther, Madison Lueger Breaks Own School Record in Javelin
Madison Lueger

Still young into the track season with only two or three competitions under the belt for most schools but still plenty of strong performances have been posted including some recording setting performances as some athletes have broken school records.

One of those athletes to break a school record this season is Centralia Panther sophomore, Madison Lueger who broke her own record in the javelin. As a freshman Lueger notched a toss of 135’06 during the track season and that set a school record but this year a toss of 141’06 gives Madison a new mark for the school record by six feet. The Centralia sophomore posted that toss of 141’06 at the Nemaha Central Invite and took first place as the meet in the process, while also recording a seventh place finish in the shot put and 11th place finish in the discus at the same competition.

Earlier in the track season Lueger and the Panthers competed at the Frankfort Artic Invite and Valley Heights Invite and notched some top level performances in the throwing competitions. She won the javelin at both events, while taking second and third in the shot put at the respective events and placing third and 16th in the discus. Her best discus toss on the season is a mark of 84’01, while her best mark in the shot put is 33’05.25.

Last year Lueger got a taste of the State track meet and earned a third place finish in the Class 1A javelin with a toss of 125’06 and helped the lady Panthers win the 1A State track team title in the process. Madison hopes to continue her success this season and push towards another trip to the State competition in Wichita.
