Levi Huneke

While wrestling is a team sport with the compiling of scores, its individual performances that stand out more than the team scores. Sabetha Bluejay senior, Levi Huneke is one of those wrestlers you know when he hits the match you are going to see a great performance and someone that will give everything he’s got.

Levi has continued his growth as a wrestler this season, sprouting into one of the best in his weight class of 182lbs as he currently ranks second in 3-2-1A rankings and is perfect on the season with a 16-0 record on the mat.

Huneke last year finished with a 23-9 record and 3-3 at state for a sixth place finish; Levi has used that to propel him into this season were he has been controlling his opponents all year. He opened the season up with a pair of wins at the Horton double dual.

Recently out of the holiday break Sabetha participated in the Rossville Invite were Levi competed in round robin action in his weight class of 182lbs going a perfect 4-0 on the day with two pinfall wins, a technical fall win and a win by decision.  Levi also won the Sabetha Tri-State Tournament and Riley County Invitational Crowns early this season with pinfall wins in both of the championship matches.

Huneke this season has compiled seven pinfall wins of his 16 wins on the year, working his way to that perfect 16-0 record with hard work and determination. Levi who made state last season has his sights set on another state bid this season and a state title, as well.
