For the sixth time in school history the Hanover Wildcats won the Twin Valley League Tournament title which gives them the most by a single team in the TVL among the boy’s teams.
The Wildcats have enjoyed a strong year with only a pair of losses to top 2A teams in the State and in the tournament put together a nice run and helping lead the way was senior, Will Bruna.
Bruna and Hanover after a first round bye took on Clifton-Clyde in the Quarterfinals and won 71-49 with Will leading the charge netting 22 points. In the Semifinals the Wildcats found themselves down early to Onaga but came back and won 54-45 with Bruna pouring in 20 points. The Wildcat senior notched his best game of the year in the Championship 76-67 win over Troy scoring 27 points, as the Wildcats avenge a loss to the Trojans from earlier this year. Bruna went 8-10 from the line with clutch free throws down the stretch with his teammates getting in the free game too as the team went 32-42 in the win.
On the year Bruna is averaging 15.3 points per game and has recorded double figures in eight of the teams 10 games but only had one 20-plus point game before the tournament where he recorded three.
The Wildcats look to use their TVL tournament performance to propel them through the second half of the season as Bruna and company look to finish the regular season strong and make another run to another State tournament.
